President to Promote Hi-Tech Job Creation in Upstate New York and Building the Foundation for the 21st Century Innovation Economy

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressmen Paul Tonko (NY-21) and Scott Murphy (NY-20) announced that President Obama will visit Hudson Valley Community College at 11:00 AM, Monday, September, 21st.  Several months ago the Congressmen requested that the President visit the region to highlight hi-tech job creation in Upstate New York.

“I share the President’s vision of building and growing an innovation economy,” said Rep. Tonko.  “I am glad that the President recognizes the strategic importance of the Capital Region. Hudson Valley Community College is an ideal location to showcase the technical training and skills that will empower the workforce for the jobs of the future.”

“I am honored to welcome President Obama to Upstate New York. It's not every day that you can say the President of the United States is coming to your community,” said Rep. Murphy.  “I came to Washington to work to create jobs and turn our economy around, and now as we work to lead our nation along the path toward economic recovery, I am proud to show how Upstate New York is a part of the solution by quickly becoming a world leader in hi-tech jobs.”
