Loudonville, NY 12211-1462
Project Recipient: Siena College
Funds will help a program which is focused directly on at-risk youth and specifically addresses two of the major challenges facing the New York’s Capital Region: poor rates of high school graduation and corresponding disappointing rates of college attendance.
This project will assist at-risk youth by promoting programs that teach them to expand their ability to think logically and critically, to comprehend accurately, and to communicate effectively. These programs will leverage the considerable community outreach and service learning experience of Siena’s faculty, staff, and students. It will do so in continued conjunction with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany Inc., Unity House, North Albany School District, the Siena Mentoring Program, and other highly respected community partner agencies.
The project will create an inner city learning environment that focuses on education, cultural, and career opportunities for African American youth at a significant developmental point in their lives.
