Next Tuesday, Congress will gavel into session with just four days to approve a budget and avoid a full-scale government shutdown.
Before that happens, I want to hear from you. Please join me, along with any interested friends or family, for a constituent town hall tomorrow evening at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. The event will be held in Gannett Auditorium located at 815 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Doors open at 6:00pm and the event will start at 6:30pm. Parking is available on-site. Space will be limited and seats will be provided on a first-come first-served basis with additional seating available in overflow spaces. The event will also be broadcast live on Facebook.
Our budget should be a reflection of our values. The budget proposed by President Trump would slash funding for life-saving cancer research, end federal support for teachers, students, museums and libraries, and even eliminate federal funding for Meals on Wheels and other senior support programs.
According to Standard & Poor's, the last government shutdown cost America $1.5 billion per day. Some 120,000 jobs were never created or were delayed as a result. The only thing worse for the U.S. economy right now might be the Trump budget. I hope you will join me in Saratoga Springs tomorrow and share your thoughts on this or any federal issue.
