Featured Funding OpportunitiesPromoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation (PROTECT) Competitive Grant ProgramThe PROTECT Program provides funding to plan for and make surface transportation more resilient to current and future weather events, natural disasters, and changing conditions, such as severe storms, flooding, drought, levee and dam failures, wildfire, rockslides, mudslides, sea level rise, extreme weather, including extreme temperatures, and earthquakes.The PROTECT Program has the following categories of funding: Planning Grants Resilience Grants, including:Resilience Improvement Grants Community Resilience and Evacuation Route Grants At-Risk Coastal Infrastructure Grants Applications are now being accepted through October 9, 2026.NYS Canal System Tourism, Infrastructure Amenities and Event Grants ProgramThis program opens for applications on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 for projects and events planned for 2027.For 2027, the grant program will prioritize projects and events that are accessible to people of all abilities, incorporate Universal Design Principles, and address gaps in services and amenities.NYS Building Recreational Infrastructure for Communities, Kids and Seniors (NY BRICKS) Round 2Earlier this month, Governor Hochul announced the launch of the second round of the NY BRICKS capital grant program, making $75 million available to municipalities and nonprofit organizations to build, renovate and modernize community centers across New York State.The Request for Applications and supporting materials for the second round of NY BRICKS are available now. The applicant question period is now open, and a webinar for potential applicants has been posted. Questions must be submitted by Sept. 30, with answers posted by Oct. 26. Applications will be accepted through the DASNY Grants Application Portal beginning Nov. 2 and must be submitted by 3 p.m. Dec. 7, 2026. Awards are expected to be announced no earlier than Feb. 26, 2027.FY 2027 AmeriCorps Seniors RSVPEstablished in 1971, AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP engages people ages 55 and older in a diverse range of volunteer activities. AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers tutor children, help prepare simple taxes, assist victims of natural disasters, provide nutrition/food support, facilitate opioid and substance abuse education workshops, and serve in their communities in many other ways.This funding announcement is an opportunity for communities and organizations to apply for funding to engage adults ages 55 and older in tackling some of the community’s most pressing needs through the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program. Applicants may propose activities intended to address community needs by thoroughly explaining the unmet need and activities to be completed by volunteers to address that need.
