Featured Funding OpportunitiesNonprofit Security Grant Program National Security Supplemental (NSGP-NSS)The Nonprofit Security Grant Program provides funding support for facility hardening and other physical security enhancements and activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist or other extremist attack.Funding under the NSGP-NSS has been authorized under the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024.NSGP - Urban Area (NSGP-NSS-UA) - $105 million is being made available nationally to support nonprofit organizations that are located within a federally designated urban area. NSGP - State (NSGP-NSS-S) - $105 million is being made available nationally, with New York State having a target allocation of $2.28 million, to support nonprofit organizations that are located outside of the federally designated urban areas.If your nonprofit site is physically located within New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County, then you may apply to NSGP-NSS-UA. If your nonprofit site is located outside of New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties, then you may apply to NSGP-NSS-S. Applications due on December 11, 2024, by 5:00 p.m.Landmarks of American History and CultureThe National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Education Programs is accepting applications for the Landmarks of American History and Culture program. The program supports a series of one-week residential, virtual, and combined format workshops across the nation to enhance how K-12 educators and higher education faculty and humanities professionals incorporate place-based approaches to humanities teaching and scholarship.K-12 Educators Higher EducationOptional drafts are due January 6, 2025. The Full Application Deadline is February 12, 2025.Fiscal Year 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program The primary goal of AFG is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. This funding is for critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel. The 2024 AFG application period opened on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. EST and closes Friday, December 20th, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. EST.My office will be hosting a virtual AFG workshop on Wednesday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please register here!Additionally, the 2024 AFG Application Development Training Series is now available to view on YouTube. There will be no FEMA led live application development webinar events for the 2024 AFG. Instead, there is a playlist of seven videos hosted on YouTube that cover the spectrum of AFG subjects. Apply for Heating and Cooling Assistance (HEAP)!Need help paying your energy bill? Low-income New Yorkers can apply for heating and cooling assistance under the Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP. The 2024-2025 Regular HEAP benefit opened November 1, 2024.Learn more about HEAP current monthly income limits. APPLY HERE! Weatherization Assistance ProgramThe NYS Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is the largest residential energy conservation program in the country. NYS WAP assists income-eligible homeowners and some renters in our state by reducing heating and cooling costs through energy-conservation measures, while also addressing health and safety issues in their homes.Households with incomes at or below 60% of state median income are eligible for assistance. If a household contains a member who receives Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefits or certain other forms of public assistance, the household is automatically eligible for NYS WAP services. Applications are accepted from renters, homeowners, and rental property owners. Potential program participants apply by contacting the WAP provider that serves their area.Find Your Weatherization Provider Here!Services include but are not limited to:sealing of cracks and holes to reduce heat loss;insulation of attics and walls;heating system repairs or replacement;providing efficient lighting and refrigeration;window and/or outside door repair or replacement;minor repairs which are needed to ensure maximum efficiency of the weatherization services performed; andmitigation of energy-related health and safety issues. Small Business ResourcesRemember to submit your U.S. Beneficial Ownership Information Report before the end of the year!Starting on January 1st, 2024 the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) began accepting beneficial ownership information reports. The bipartisan Corporate Transparency Act, enacted in 2021 to curb illicit finance, requires many companies doing business in the United States to report information about the individuals who ultimately own or control them.Filing is simple, secure, and free of charge. Companies that are required to comply (“reporting companies”) must file their initial reports by the following deadlines:Existing companies: Reporting companies created or registered to do business in the United States before January 1, 2024 must file by January 1, 2025.Newly created or registered companies: Reporting companies created or registered to do business in the United States in 2024 have 90 calendar days to file after receiving actual or public notice that their company’s creation or registration is effective.Beneficial ownership information reporting is not an annual requirement. A report only needs to be submitted once, unless the filer needs to update or correct information.
