Congressman Paul D. Tonko

<:date:>

Dear <:Firstname:>,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing today to update you on my recent work in the Capital Region with U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary,  Dr. David Danielson. I have been working with Assistant Secretary Danielson over the past several months in Washington and, this week, he visited our community to discuss why our highly skilled workforce and world-renowned academic and research institutions make our region the perfect place for responsible federal investment in America’s energy future.

For two days, Dr. Danielson met with local stakeholders in the education, business, and non-profit communities to talk about ongoing work and opportunities for collaboration with the Department of Energy. The Capital Region is one of the hottest pieces of real estate in the country for investment in technology and renewable energy and, while gridlock has caused Congress to grind to a halt in Washington, I continue to work with administration officials to grow jobs and drive economic development in our Upstate New York neighborhoods.

Dr. Danielson’s visit comes on the heels of a visit to SEMATECH and CNSE in Albany by U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Prtizker. I have enjoyed meeting with these two high-ranking administration officials over the past two weeks to foster greater cooperation between the private and public sector so that we can work together to advance innovation and investment.

It is clear that the president and his cabinet recognize the remarkable work going on here in the Capital Region, which is a true testament to our institutions and their long tradition of investment, experimentation, and hard work.

I want to hear from you. If you have any questions or comments about this or any other issue, please do not hesitate to contact me through your local Congressional office or at my website. My door is always open.

Thanks for reading,

Paul
