Featured Funding and Grant Assistance Opportunities:
Help with Tax Exempt Applications- Some organizations have experienced problems or delays in processing applications for tax exempt status. This can be a lengthy process, especially if there is missing or incomplete information on the application. The IRS has introduced a new tool to help applicants with the process; the interactive Form 1023, Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It begins with the pre-requisites that must be completed before submitting an application. If you do not have the required items, there is a pop-up that explains how to get them. Once you have worked through the pre-requisites, there is a checklist that will help insure you have included all the necessary documents. From there, users can download the interactive Form 1023. There are tiny blue question mark symbols on most lines of the application that can provide some guidance and clarification in completing each line. Hopefully this tool will be helpful in cutting down the time it takes to process applications by submitting all the required information up front. http://www.stayexempt.irs.gov/StartingOut/InteractiveForm1023Application.aspx
