Rep. Tonko Extends DC Office Hours for Inauguration Weekend Visitors

Washington office open extra two hours tonight, opening early Saturday

"This new administration needs to know that they will be held accountable, and that we will not allow any private deals or special interests to come before their duty to serve the needs and best interests of the American people." - Rep. Paul Tonko

WASHINGTONCongressman Paul Tonko announced today that his office in Washington, D.C. will be open an extra two hours today, throughout the day tomorrow, and beginning at 8:00am on Saturday to receive visitors from New York’s Capital Region who are in town for events connected with tomorrow’s Presidential Inauguration. Based on early estimates, nearly 200 constituents will be in town to attend the Inauguration while the Women’s March is expected to draw close to 1,000 people from across the Capital Region.

Rep. Tonko:

“I am eager to welcome so many visitors from our region to our nation’s capital for the Inauguration on Friday and Women’s March on Saturday. In the words of President Obama, the peaceful transition of power is one of the hallmarks of our democracy. I am also excited to join the Women’s March on Saturday and deliver a message to the new administration that the time has come for America to enact pro-family policies that include protections for clean air and water, equal pay for equal work, paid family leave, guaranteed voting rights, and the right to quality affordable healthcare, childcare and education. This new administration needs to know that they will be held accountable, and that we will not allow any private deals or special interests to come before their duty to serve the needs and best interests of the American people.”
