The Congressman has worked to deliver legislation to develop and sustain new areas of efficient science and technology research, support STEM education for all primary and secondary school students, and expand broadband internet access in our Capital Region and nationwide.  


Crowdsourcing and Citizen Science Act of 2016

A bill to increase the use of crowdsourcing and citizen science methods within the federal government, harnessing the resourcefulness and innovation of the public to solve problems without requiring new funding or authorizations. This will help advance and accelerate scientific research, literacy, and diplomacy, and will further improve other functions of government.

Educating Tomorrow's Engineers Act

A bill to expand the federal definition of “science” under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to clarify that states can include engineering in their state science standards. This law expands engineering education in our nation’s elementary and secondary schools by

ACCESS Broadband Act

A bill to establish a central office to manage the federal broadband resources of multiple agencies and provide informational workshops regarding broadband development. This has greatly expanded broadband access to communities in need and simplified the process of accessing broadband for small businesses and local economic developers.

Artificial Intelligence Education Act

A bill to require the National Science Foundation to create a grant program for the development of educational content on artificial intelligence.

Microelectronics Research for Energy Innovation (Micro) Act

A bill to establish a new Department of Energy program on the development, demonstration, and commercial application of microelectronics. Passed as part of the CHIPS and Science Act, this legislation will support cutting-edge research and development of chip technologies in the Capital Region and beyond.
