Congressman Paul Tonko announced today that Hudson Valley Community College and Fulton Montgomery Community College will receive over $6.5 million combined for the purposes of train or retraining unemployed workers, as well as career advancement and development.

“These Recovery Act funds are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing – creating jobs and helping to retrain and refine the workforce of tomorrow, today,” said Congressman Tonko. “Both of these community colleges are crucial players in my congressional district, and I am happy to have hosted President Obama at HVCC.  These investments will continue to bolster the region and help develop the innovation economy in a real way, leading to employment, job opportunities and career advancement.”

The grants are part of the Health Care Sector and Other High Growth and Emerging Industries job training grant awards authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and are being administered by the U.S. Department of Labor.
