As promised, Congressman Paul Tonko today delivered a letter to the White House and President Barack Obama on behalf of the Siena College Student Senate. Congressman Tonko arranged to personally deliver the letter to an aide in the West Wing, and it will now be passed on to the President. The attached photo shows the Congressman as he was entering the Northwest gate of the White House.
“It was an honor to work with the students at Siena College to deliver their letter to the President,” said Congressman Tonko. “While this is a light-hearted break from the serious business we’re dealing with in Washington, it is also an opportunity to share with the President the athletic and academic successes of the students at Siena. I am hopeful that once he reads the letter that he will have a new appreciation for Siena College, and will give serious consideration towards picking the Saints to win in his NCAA Tournament bracket.”
Last year, President Obama picked Ohio State to beat Siena in the opening round of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, but had his bracket busted when the Saints won in double overtime. The letter from the Siena College Student Senate encourages the president to pick the Saints to win this year, while also detailing the team’s on and off the court accomplishments, including their community service and academic achievements.
