Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-21) released the following statement on the passage of health insurance reform:

“Tonight we enter into the final chapter of reforming our nation’s health care system.  After years of debate and thoughtful discourse, we are delivering on what voters sent us here to do.  The House just took an historic vote to finally return control of health care in America where it belongs – to families and their doctors – not health insurance companies and government bureaucrats.  After studying and reviewing the implications of this bill on those with insurance, seniors, small businesses and the largest deficit reduction in a generation, I asked myself this bottom line question: Are the people of the 21st Congressional District better off with passage of this reform?  My answer, unequivocally, is a resounding yes.  I am proud to cast my vote in favor of this much need reform and look forward to the President’s signature.”
