CONGRESSMAN TONKO ANNOUNCES $5.4 MILLION RECOVERY ACT GRANT FOR UALBANY

Congressman Paul Tonko attended a news conference this morning to announce that the University at Albany has been awarded a $5.4 million Recovery Act grant to construct five new labs at the university's new RNA Institute.

Congressman Paul Tonko attended a news conference this morning to announce that the University at Albany has been awarded a $5.4 million Recovery Act grant to construct five new labs at the university's new RNA Institute. The grant will create 40 construction jobs and 90 full-time permanent positions at the school.

The RNA Institute is a cuttinge edge medical research facility dedicated to advancing RNA science and technologies and drug discovery.

"This federal investment in the University at Albany will help The RNA Institute move forward with cutting edge research and development that could lead to exciting new discoveries in the treatment of disease," said Congressman Tonko. "Congratulations to UAlbany for putting together a public-private partnership that has great potential to grow into an economic engine for the Capital Region."
