Congressman Paul Tonko issued the following statement after today’s White House ceremony honoring Dr. Tom Little of Delmar with the Presidential Medal of Freedom:

“Today, President Obama honored Dr. Tom Little of Delmar with the nation’s highest civilian honor to celebrate a life of sacrifice and serving others. Dr. Little and his wife Libby devoted their time and talents to provide care to the men, women and children of Afghanistan, and this award will provide a lasting reminder of his legacy and of his extraordinary efforts to make our world a better place to live. His courage and dedication to helping others, especially on the front lines of a war torn country through the practice of medicine, should serve as an example and inspiration to us all. It was my honor to join with President Obama at the White House today in honor of Dr. Little.”
