Congressman Paul Tonko will tour STS Steel in Schenectady on Friday, February 25th at 10am, and join company officials to announce the first shipment of steel for a Recovery Act funded project in New York City.
STS Steel has been awarded contracts for a combined $13.4 million, funded through the Recovery Act, to fabricate and erect steel for the rehabilitation of the Fulton Street Transit Center in Manhattan. The complex is a critical part of the New York City subway system, located just blocks from the World Trade Center site. It serves 275,000 commuters each day. The project has helped the Schenectady company add new jobs and stabilize its workforce.
