Congressman Paul Tonko will visit the Dubois Garden Apartments in Gloversville on Monday, April 18th at 9am to discuss an extensive weatherization project at the complex that was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The project is nearing completion.

The Gloversville Housing Authority received $200,000 in Recovery Act funds through the New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) to make energy efficiency improvements to 85 units that will dramatically lower energy consumption and costs. The NYS DHCR invested $40,000 of state funds to the project.

Congressman Tonko will be joined by NYS DHCR Commissioner Darryl Towns, Fulmont Community Action Agency Chairman Denis Wilson, Gloversville Mayor Dayton King (invited), Dan Towne, the Director of the Gloversville Housing Authority, and residents of the complex.

Following formal remarks, there will be a discussion involving the Fulmont Community Action Agency, its clients, staff, and board members, regarding the agency’s positive impact on the community. The agency is facing a cut in funding through the federal Community Services Block Grant program that will cripple many of the services it provides to low-income families throughout the region. Congressman Tonko has fought against these cuts in Washington.
