Congressman Paul Tonko will tour Ecovative Design in Green Island this Thursday, April 21st at 10am, as part of his continuing series of visits to manufacturers to tout innovation and job creation.
Ecovative Design makes biodegradable fungus-based foam that can be used in packaging and other applications as a replacement for petroleum-based foams, including Styrofoam. Clients include Steelcase Furniture and Dell Computer.
Ecovative, which has received federal investment through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, and has also garnered private investment, is working on plans to expand its manufacturing capacity to meet future demand.
The company was formed in 2007 by RPI graduates Gavin McIntyre and Eben Bayer.
