TONKO TO ANNOUNCE LOCAL WINNER OF CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION ON MONDAY

Congressman Paul Tonko will announce the winner of the annual Congressional Art Competition during an event to showcase all of the artwork submitted by local high school students on Monday, May 16 from 530p to 7p at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street in Troy.

Congressman Paul Tonko will announce the winner of the annual Congressional Art Competition during an event to showcase all of the artwork submitted by local high school students on Monday, May 16 from 530p to 7p at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street in Troy.

The winning artwork will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., along with the winning entries from each Congressional district in the nation. The winner will also receive free travel to Washington courtesy of Southwest Airlines to participate in an unveiling ceremony.

The students’ artwork was reviewed by a volunteer panel of judges from the Capital Region arts community.

The Congressional Art Competition started in 1982 as an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. More than 650,000 high school students have participated in the nationwide competition.
