WASHINGTON—Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-20) offered the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address before Congress tonight: “Tonight, President Trump had the chance to outline a vision for the future that highlights the American spirit of ingenuity and innovation to solve some of our most pressing challenges – climate change, building modern infrastructure and making health care more accessible and affordable. Unfortunately, on all three counts, he fell short. My colleagues and I have been working on specific plans to solve the climate crisis through the CLEAN Future Act, recently unveiled a $760 billion bill to rebuild America’s infrastructure, and passed H.R. 3 to drastically reduce the cost of prescription drugs. In fact, my guest for this evening’s address was Kathy Hunnan, the President and Co-Founder of Dandelion Energy, an innovative local geothermal company in the Capital Region that is growing in leaps and bounds as a source of clean energy for the future. In Congress, I will continue to push for real solutions that tackle our biggest challenges while advocating for the needs of all our communities in the Capital Region.” ### |
