On Saturday, Congressman Paul Tonko will tour businesses in downtown Troy and call on Capital Region residents to support our small, local shops this holiday season.
The tour, which will be held in conjunction with the national Small Business Saturday effort, will kick off at 11 A.M. on Saturday, November 26th, starting at Pfeil’s Hardware at 63 Third Street in Troy. Other businesses on the tour include:
- Clement’s Frame Shop & Art Gallery
- Ilium Café
- Truly Rhe
- Botanic Studio
- Market Block Books
Congressman Tonko will be joined by Troy Business Improvement District Executive Director Elizabeth Young and other city and county officials.
Small Business Saturday is a national initiative started last year to encourage consumers to shop at local small businesses. Each dollar spent at a locally-owned small business has three times the economic impact on the community versus shopping at national chains.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, providing support for everything from youth sporting programs to highway cleanups,” said Congressman Tonko. “They also steady the local tax base and provide jobs. It’s important that as we celebrate this holiday season, we remember that supporting our local business strengthens our communities and helps boost the local economy.”
