WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Paul D. Tonko issued a video statement earlier today congratulating President Joe Biden for his swearing in as 46th President of the United States, and Vice President Kamala Harris for her swearing in as the first female, Black and South Asian Vice-President in U.S. history.

Tonko offered his well wishes in a video posted on his official social media accounts today, full text of his remarks enclosed:

“On behalf of all of us in New York’s Capital Region, and the millions of Americans who have raised their voices to call for climate action, congratulations! And thank you. Your leadership could not come at a more critical moment. As an engineer, I welcome your commitment to addressing the climate crisis with bold solutions, built on science, that advance American competitiveness. Let’s seize this moment for climate action that builds opportunity for U.S. America’s clean energy innovators, for our small businesses and working families, for our frontline communities and those historically overlooked, and for every American willing to lend a hand. We are at an inflection point in American history. We have a chance now to build this nation back better than ever, to reunite our citizens and restore the faith and confidence of the American people that we can, and we will, rise to meet every challenge.
