ALBANY, NY—Congressman Paul D. Tonko issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision to leave Texas’s abortion ban in place:

“When confronted with a dangerous abortion ban that goes against nearly 50 years of precedent established under Roe v. Wade, the partisan U.S. Supreme Court chose to rule under cover of darkness to uphold this explicit attack on reproductive freedoms. SB8 is the most regressive and harmful ban our nation has seen in decades, barring any abortions at 6 weeks with no exceptions for rape or incest. We will not sit idly by as efforts to roll back reproductive rights continue. I will work in Congress alongside my colleagues to ensure that women—not the courts, politicians and strangers—have the power to make their own decisions about their health, wellbeing and future.”
