Tonko Statement on Deaths of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and Israeli Hostages

ALBANY, NY — Congressman Paul D. Tonko (NY-20) today released the following statement on the deaths of six Israeli hostages, including the death of American-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin:

“I am devastated by the tragic loss of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five additional Israeli hostages in Gaza. When I met Hersh’s parents, I pledged to do everything within my power to see them reunite with their son. Unfortunately, that reunion will never come to pass.

“This senseless war has caused unfathomable carnage, leaving too many Israeli and Palestinian families forever broken. While nothing can undo the losses already suffered, this tragedy is yet another reminder that both sides must come together in good faith to bring this war to an end before still more families are torn apart. I reiterate my call for an immediate ceasefire to end the horrific violence in Gaza and ensure all remaining Israeli hostages are returned home to their families.”
