ALBANY, NY — Congressman Paul D. Tonko (NY-20) released the following statement on the departure of Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins: “In over six years at the helm of the Albany Police Department, Chief Hawkins has shown what is possible when law enforcement agencies work together with the communities they serve to find solutions that keep all residents safer. As Albany’s longest-serving Police Chief in more than 40 years, Chief Hawkins has been an integral partner in our efforts to reduce gun violence, tackle the overdose crisis and support those in recovery, and bolster police-community relations across the City of Albany. I’m grateful to Chief Hawkins for his years of exemplary service to the City of Albany and the Albany Police Department, and I wish him all the best as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.” ### |
