Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-20) and President, CEO & Commissioner of Empire State Development Kenneth Adams will hold a telephone town hall next Friday, February 28th at 1:30 p.m. The two officials will highlight federal and state efforts at economic development, listen to ideas and input from Capital Region residents about job creation, and answer questions in an hour-long conference call.

“As I travel throughout the region, the top concern I hear from constituents continues to be the growth of good-paying jobs and getting people back to work,”said Tonko. “The more we support middle-class workers and local small business owners through investing in a highly-skilled, well-trained future workforce, the faster we will see a more robust recovery that benefits Main Street as much as it does Wall Street.”

“Under the Governor’s leadership, New York has made great strides in improving its business climate, attracting new investment and creating jobs,” said Adams.“As we move forward with our ambitious economic development plan this year, utilizing new tools such as the state's START-UP NY program, we will work closely with the community and business leaders.  The Capital Region’s many assets, including its success as a hub for high-tech emerging industries and premier higher education institutions, position the region well for future job growth and prosperity.”

Tens of thousands of residents in New York’s 20th Congressional District will receive an invitation by telephone to participate in the telephone town hall. Additionally, anyone from the Capital Region can request an invitation by emailing TonkoTownHall@mail.house.govand providing their name and phone number.

For those unable to participate in the conversation next Friday evening, questions or concerns can be sent to Congressman Tonko by calling any of his offices in New York or Washington, by visiting his website at http://tonko.house.gov, connecting on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/reppaultonko, or following him on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/RepPaulTonko.
