WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Paul D. Tonko (NY-20) released the following statement following the House vote on the Republican budget plan:

“Elon Musk wants to take a chainsaw to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Rather than passing a budget that bolsters these safety net programs, Republicans are choosing to give a blank check to President Trump, Musk, and DOGE so that they can rip away health care for working families all in a ploy to give massive tax breaks to billionaire corporations. This budget is irresponsible, cruel, and unacceptable; that’s why I voted no. I will continue to fight against this budget and will stand against any further action by Republicans to prioritize their wealthy donors over the American people.”
