Tonko Announces $513,389 for SUNY Albany Research Foundation

Today, Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-20) announced that the Research Foundation for SUNY Albany is slated to receive $513,389 in funding to expand its research of education outcomes for children. These funds, provided by the Institute of Education Sciences under the U.S. Department of Education, were awarded to institutions recognized for their national leadership in improving the understanding of when children with disability are ready to begin school, as well as general education outcomes for students at every level.

Today, Congressman Paul Tonko (NY-20) announced that the Research Foundation for SUNY Albany is slated to receive $513,389 in funding to expand its research of education outcomes for children. These funds, provided by the Institute of Education Sciences under the U.S. Department of Education, were awarded to institutions recognized for their national leadership in improving the understanding of when children with disability are ready to begin school, as well as general education outcomes for students at every level.

 

“Outcomes research is critical to improving our education system so it can best provide for students from all  backgrounds,” said Tonko. “Quality education is the lifeblood of a strong economy and the foundation for opportunity and mobility. With this funding, SUNY Albany continues to contribute to a national conversation on how to give our students the best education possible, especially those that suffer from disabilities.”

 

In all, seven New York universities will receive a total of $3,135,380.19, which will fund new research projects in education outcomes through 2019.
