Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) will mark Small Business Saturday this year in Schenectady by visiting locally owned businesses and highlighting the economic potential of Capital Region shops. Small business leaders and local officials will join Tonko, where they will connect directly with employees and employers to discuss issues that contribute to their successes and failures, and to express support for their commitment to the community and economy.

“The engines of New York’s economy are fueled by the efforts of small business owners and their teams in every corner of the Capital Region. From Schenectady to Albany to Troy and every community along the way, support for policies that help our private sector thrive is critical to our ultimate goal of getting our friends and neighbors back to work. I look forward to Saturday and encourage every New Yorker to shop local,”said Tonko.

The tour will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Sow’s Ear Studio and Gallery at 1597 Union Street and conclude approximately two hours later at One Huge Savings at 1703 Union Street. The entire tour is open to media, who are invited to join the Congressman at any point along the route. It is anticipated that the group will spend roughly fifteen minutes at each stop.

Congressman Tonko’s tour will tentatively include the following destinations on Union Street in Schenectady:

2.      Head to Tail Pet Wellness Center

3.      Domani Spa

4.      Divinitea

5.      Musler’s Fine Women’s Wear

6.      One Huge Savings
