WASHINGTON – Congressman Paul Tonko responded to reports this morning that a gunman opened fire on a Congressional baseball practice, injuring his colleague Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) two U.S. Capitol Police officers and two others:

“My thoughts are with my colleague Steve Scalise, other Members and staff who were present, the police officers injured and responding, and all of their families. Details are still coming in from Alexandria but all accounts report that our Capitol Police and their fellow officers from Alexandria showed exceptional heroism, reminding us of the selfless protection they provide us each and every day.”
