Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY 21) will hold a live telephone town hall meeting this afternoon on health care reform from 5p-6p. The ‘tele-town hall,’ which will be the first hosted by Rep. Tonko, is intended to provide an additional forum for residents of the 21st district to hear directly from their Congressman and communicate their concerns and questions about health care.
To participate in the call, constituents dial 877-229-8493 and enter the pin number 14923.
“The obligations of every day life make it difficult for many people to attend traditional town hall meetings,” said Rep. Tonko. “This telephone town hall meeting will give my constituents another opportunity to share their views and questions on an important issue, and I encourage people to get involved.”
The telephone town hall uses a computer program to create a large-scale conference call between Rep. Tonko and potentially thousands of residents of the 21st Congressional District. At the start of the meeting, a random selection of 21st Congressional District households will receive a call from Rep. Tonko inviting them to participate. Those who receive the calls will have the option of staying on the line to hear opening remarks from Rep. Tonko and then participate in a question and answer session. Others can also dial into the call using the number above.
