ALBANY, NY—Congressman Paul D. Tonko announced 15 community development and improvement projects across New York’s 20th Congressional District that he submitted to the House Committee on Appropriations in a bid to bring direct federal investment to the region under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Community Project Funding process. “Over the last two years, I’ve worked hard to advance impactful local projects in our federal legislation,” Congressman Tonko said. “I’m proud of the success we’ve had in securing those funds and I’m excited to once again announce the latest slate of worthy projects that will spark further growth for our communities. Each of these 15 projects was chosen from many dozens of stellar applications and put through a rigorous, thorough selection process by my staff and myself. My thanks to all those who submitted these deserving programs. Moving forward, I will work tirelessly in Washington to bring federal dollars home and ignite our Capital Region economy.” Under guidelines issued by the Appropriations Committee, each Representative may request funding for up to 15 projects in their community for Fiscal Year 2024—although not all projects are guaranteed to receive funding. Projects are restricted to a limited number of federal funding streams, and only state and local governments and eligible non-profit entities are permitted to receive funding.
