Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) today slammed an announcement from the Social Security Administration (SSA) that the annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) for more than 70 million Social Security beneficiaries – most of them senior citizens – would be a meager 1.7 percent. Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) announced today that local Fire Departments would receive more than $145,000 in Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) from the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
