WASHINGTON, DC—Coming on the heels of a successful week touring the region to celebrate the delivery of more than $14 million in funding to NY-20 through the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 federal budget, Congressman Paul D. Tonko today announced that his office has opened the application process for Community Project Funding Requests for FY2023.

“This month, I was overjoyed to announce that every one of our selected Capital Region Community Projects were funded under our federal omnibus law, and I celebrated alongside project leaders on the infusion of millions in funding that will ignite our region’s economic growth for years to come,” Congressman Tonko said. “Now it is my pleasure to announce that local organizations can once again apply for federal funds for their projects. Over the coming weeks, my staff and I will work around the clock to review eligible projects and consider proposals that best match the criteria and—most importantly—that will deliver the most significant benefit to our region.”

Under the FY2023 application process, the limit on the number of projects each member can request has risen to 15 total projects. Community Project Funding is only eligible to local and state governments and non-profit organizations. For-profit entities are not eligible. The deadline for submitting project requests to Congressman Tonko is 6:00PM on April 15th, 2022. Funding availability, the formal application and instructions on how to submit requests can be found HERE.

Tonko continued: “Following the success of the FY2022 community projects, I am eager to learn about our region’s innovative projects and initiatives, and promise to be there every step of the way and do all I can to bring these federal dollars home. I urge applicants to apply as soon as possible!”
