TONKO: ´DONUT HOLE CHECKS ARE ON THE WAY TO SENIORS

Congressman Paul Tonko announced that today Medicare will begin mailing out to tens of thousands of seniors $250 ´donut hole' checks. Under the recently enacted health reform law, seniors who fall in the donut hole coverage gap in 2010 will receive this one-time tax-free $250 rebate check. These checks will continue to be mailed monthly over the next several months as seniors enter the coverage gap.

Congressman Paul Tonko today joined a coalition of House members and signed onto a letter calling on BP CEO Tony Hayward to suspend dividend payments and advertising campaigns until the company has capped the flow of oil from the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico, cleaned up the damage, and paid restitution to the businesses crippled by the disaster.
